Designing Your Backyard to Fit Your Personality

Your home says a lot about your personality, and reflects clues as to the type of lifestyle that you live, so if you want to incorporate your backyard into a workable lifestyle too; you first have to access your personality type.

If you are a very social person, you probably enjoy cooking and dining out. You might consider investing in an outdoor serving bar, and by this I am talking about using a potting bench, or a long table that you can serve food on. Make sure you choice is weather resistant, like a concrete or marble top table.

Plant potted herbs, or fragrance plants around the serving area, to give off a fresh smell of aroma. Add a covering to your backyard area for those days when the weather is not cooperating.

If your personality is more relaxed, you might want to create a more "private" backyard. This would include little nooks leading into a garden, or put out some candles for a serene atmosphere. You might want a tree house, some birdhouses, a place for sunbathing, and a few benches in the garden.

If you are the active and playful type, you could have a picnic area set up in a section of your yard. Add a refreshment area, and a built in sandpit, which could also be turned into a fire pit when the kids all leave the house. Think about adding a pool, or an outdoor spa setting in a gazebo.

There is no end to the ways that you can make your backyard into a suitable design, to fit whatever your lifestyle may be.
